A different Spirit

A Different Spirit

If determination is the destination we’re seeking, the key may be found in Numbers 14: 20-24. where Moses records in God’s Word as a two-fold prescription concerning Caleb the Criticism conquerer:
* He possessed a different spirit
* He followed God fully

What do you make of that? Just consistent living always ready to step into the deeper waters of life.

I think we all know how Caleb’s life played out…(Joshua 14:7-12). Now, what about Joshua’s ending? I think you’ll recognize the language of determination. ( Josh 24:14-15).

I’ll let you check out the author’s observations on your own but I have some reflections of my own:
1. Since age is now before me I’m even more committed to working hard, living right, and thinking well.

2. As I watch others get ahead with more fanfare and less fortitude I must remind myself that the only opinion that matters is God’s.

3. You can force rules on people but not convictions: they are put on by children who see them worn well by parents..

I’ll leave with this from Ted E and the author–

Who cannot be bought;
Whose word is their bond;
Who put character above wealth;
Who possess opinions and a will;
Who are larger than their vocations;
Who do not hesitate to take chances;
Who will not lose their individuality in a crowd;
Who will be as honest in small things as in great things;
Who will make no compromise with wrong;
Whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires,
Who will not say they do it because everybody else does it;
Who are true to their friends through good report and evil report, in adversity as well as in prosperity;
Who do not believe that shrewdness, cunning, and hardheadedness are the best qualities for winning success;
Who are not ashamed or afraid to stand for the truth when it is unpopular; who can say “no ” with emphasis, although all the rest of the world says “yes”

When you can do this my son…

You’re getting it
