Matt. 27: 62-65
Comments: when the reality of his death rocks a planet.
Isaac Watt writes,
Alas and did my Savior bleed, And did my Sovereign die. Would He devote that Sacred head for such a worm as I.
Was it for crimes that I have done, He suffered on the tree? Amazing pity, grace unknown, and love beyond degree.
Well might the sun in darkness hide, And shut His glories in, When Christ the mighty Maker died, For man, the creature’s sin.
This might I hide my blushing face, while His dear cross appears; Dissolve my heart in thankfulness and melt mine eyes to tears.
But drops of grief can ne’er repay, the debt of love I owe.; Here, Lord, I give myself away, Tis all that I can do.
And the evening and the morning were that of Thursday.
Friday-Saturday: Now the evening and the mornings were the 6th and 7th days: A day of mourning and death.
Luke 24: 1-12
Matt. 28: 1-8
John 19: 17-42
Comments: When the sting and stench of death gets stung with life..
And the evening and the morning were that of Saturday!
Here now we’ve tread the path where sin and self did die. These are the words of men who lived it, fled from it, and surrendered to it. Who is it you seek and come to know can not be answered in the darkness of the night. It remains our hope and our anticipation that He who is life and light, might bring illumination to our coming of a glory filled day.
